Carolyn Linzinmeir
Carolyn Marie Linzinmeir, daughter of the late Frank L. Summers and Oneita Bushong Summers, passed away peacefully in her home in Santa Monica, CA on March 7, 2014. Carolyn was surrounded by her family, children, and grandchildren in her final days.
Carolyn was born on her family farm on March 31, 1937 in Middletown, Indiana. Raised a farm girl, she graduated from Cadiz High School in 1955. While the legacy and love of her Indiana heritage stayed with her throughout her life, she yearned to see the world. Fulfilling her dream, Carolyn joined Delta Airlines at 18 years old. She loved her career and travelled extensively before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio and marrying David Linzinmeir, a pilot for Lake Central Airlines which later became US Airways. Carolyn and Dave eventually relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana where she ran the family businesses and raised two children.
She loved peonies and orchids, martinis and rare steaks, massages and afternoon naps, politics and cinema, little black dresses and little white lies. She despised whiners, cheap shoes, chickens, and WalMart. Many of her favorite times were spent in Hawaii with cherished friends who will miss her aloha spirit.
Those who knew her well will forever miss her accepting nature, her loyalty, full closet, and wonderful laugh.
Carolyn is survived by her husband David Linzinmeir, daughter Lisa (James) Whitlock, son Jake Linzinmeir, grandchildren Carolyn Rose and David Whitlock, and sister Saralee (James) Riggs. She was preceded in death by brothers John Summers and George Summers.
