KAPAA — A water outage for customers along Ulu, Koa, Mamane and Ohia streets is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in Kapaa weather permitting, the Department of Water said.
The shutdown will allow the DOW to replace an old defective hydrant and appurtenance, and make needed distribution line repairs.
The DOW notified affected customers, door-to-door Tuesday.
Affected customers are advised to store enough water to meet their needs during the outage; notify family, friends and neighbors that may be affected by the outage; and exercise caution while driving through the area.
When the water main is turned back on, air may be mixed into the water causing it to appear white or milky in color. This is normal and the air in the water will eventually dissipate.
The DOW apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.
