Highways, roads need improvement
Our highways are getting mean potholes and deep gaps, which drivers dodge every day — and the state and county do nothing to improve our highways and roads.
Applying a Band-Aid process is only temporary until the next rain, which is practically every day lately and not helping our cause. What will it take to have our highways and roads resurfaced? There are some areas where it is nicely paved and others not so. Lots of streets were repaved so that’s a plus. However, eye sores in residential areas are very visible and need to be taken care of also.
Safety is the number one priority for all drivers and passengers in any vehicle that is on the highway. We need to make improvement so it can protect our family and visitors using our highways. This should be a big concern for everyone including our state, county and federal officials. Our politicians were voted in to help and support our island and the people of Kauai, I haven’t seen anything positive to date, but our highways and roads are dangerous and unsafe.
Also, I remember watching the County Council meeting one evening and I heard something about how the finance department had to reimburse a person whose car had realignment problems due to big potholes on our highways. What will it take to have the state, county or federal government do something with this situation? My guess is when someone gets hurt, it will be done. Let’s not wait for an accident to happen or pretend that it won’t. This is a concern and an issue that will more likely occur if we ignore them.
State, county and federal officials, you need to prevent this from happening and take action before someone gets hurt. A lawsuit is not what we want to happen, our tax dollars may and should be used to fix these potholes instead.
