The Sunset Bridge Club is sponsoring the second annual Garden Isle Sectional beginning at 1 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The tournament will be played at the Sun Village condominium recreation room (building D) behind Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
All bridge players interested in participating in this aloha-friendly event are encouraged to attend. According to Tournament Chairman R.C. Smith, players from across Hawaii and the Mainland will attend the annual event. The total number of tables is expected to reach at least 20 with 80 or more players competing.
The annual American Contract Bridge League sanctioned tournament ensures players are scored against others of comparable skill levels. Event winners will be awarded silver masterpoints. Pairs’ sessions are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on Friday, and at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The highlight of the three-day tournament will be the Swiss Teams event, with four players per team, held during the entire day Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m.
The Sunset Bridge Club will provide catered luncheons on Saturday and Sunday, the cost of which is already included in the session entry fees.
