Kauai High School senior Heidi Herr had so much fun the first time she hosted the colorful fun run, she’s doing it again.
“Everyone had so much fun in the first race, I just couldn’t resist having another one to kick off the summer,” Herr said. “Just like the first one, this colorful, exciting run will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life team Colors for Cancer.”
The Colors for Cancer event will be held on May 31 starting at 9 a.m. Registration opens from 7:30 a.m.
Online registration is currently being accepted by visiting www.racesonline.com, key word Colors for Cancer.
Herr said registration is limited for the event open to anyone 3 years old, and up.
T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registered individuals, only. Packet pick up and in-person registration will be held on May 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
Herr created the first Colors for Cancer event as her senior project for the Kauai High School Class of 2014.
The first run circled the North Vidinha soccer fields for three miles with runners being doused with liberal clouds of colored non-toxic powders.
Following the success of the first event which drew more than 200 participants, Herr said she decided to continue her efforts to support cancer research by holding a second run.
