Thanks for votes in KIUC election
Mahalo plenty to the 1,475 members of KIUC who realized a change for new leadership and decision making was required on the board of directors. I truly appreciate your trust in me, when I said more informational measures should be considered by KIUC to keep members up-to-date on KIUC activity.
My 46 years at PMRF as a program manager involved in risk management, the environmental process, decision making and personnel growth did not influence enough member voters to seek new leadership and management skill. Maybe I’ll run again next year to seek a position on the KIUC board, where I can give back to the island I love. In the meantime, I hope I do not read letters that slam dunk KIUC for what they are doing.
Again, mahalo for your 1,475 votes of confidence. Maybe I’ll run for the County Council and represent the Westside and help to keep all of Kauai united as the greatest place on Earth to live.

Labeling products is common sense
When we as consumers go to the store and purchase food, we have the right to know just what’s in the food we’re buying. We have a right to know what’s in the products used to grow our food. How can anyone seriously argue against that? This is going into our bodies! How can anyone be against labeling?
In her letter in The Garden Island Forum section, Dawn Bicoy from Monsanto, Hawaii, wrote that they support “voluntary labeling” but that “mandatory labeling could significantly increase costs to consumers and taxpayers.”
Really?
This makes no sense at all. The products already have labels. How much is it going to cost to make a new label? Companies make new labels all the time. Just look at all those labels that say, “New and improved.” Those are all new labels.
It’s time to start the mandatory labeling of our food and the products used to grow our food. We have a right to know.
