Kapaa, visiting Kauai High School Saturday, suffered a rain delay for the second time in as many weeks. Its matches against Waimea were re-scheduled for Wednesday.
Here are the results of the matches that were completed before the delay:
• Kapaa’s Casey Nakamura charged back in the third set to take Kauai’s Danika Thompson, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 on the singles court.
Nakamura was joined by Angelika Questin and Chelsea Ferrer on the girls third doubles court to post wins for Kapaa.
• On the girls third doubles court, the Kapaa pair of Questen-Ferrer took a 6-4 win in the first set, awakening the Red Raider duo of Madison Rayno and Teyanni Esaki who battled back for a 7-6 (10-8) tie-breaking win.
The series tied, Kapaa charged back to dominate the final set, 6-1.
• The Kauai first doubles pair of Gilian Gregorio and Stefanie Gushikuma wrapped up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kapaa’s Amber Diaz and Frenses May Nono.
• On the second doubles court, Kaylin Kukino and Tori Pagador earned redemption following a tough loss last week, Kukino and Pagador posting a 6-0, 6-3 win over the Kapaa duo of Alana Bauman and Cassady Yatsko.
Kapaa boys tennis took three of four of its matches before the rain arrived.
• On the singles courts, Kapaa’s First Singles player Kalani Murakami defeated Kauai’s Francis Perez, 6-1, 6-1 while Kapaa’s Matt Steinort shut down Ricky Oshita, 6-0, 6-0 on the second singles court, despite Oshita making a concerted effort to return Steinort’s well-placed shots.
• The Warriors controlled the first doubles when its pair of Wyatt Harrison and Kai Harrison defeated the Kauai pair of Byeong Lee and Mitchell Evans, 7-5, 6-2.
• Kauai’s Clinton Silbolboro and Reggie Mones claimed the Red Raiders’ sole victory on the second doubles court, edging out the Warrior duo of Justin Fujia-Pascual and Justin Hatchell, 7-6(7-2), 6-3.
At that point, Kapaa was leading 6-4 with its pair of Shawn Yamane and Marlon Cudiamat battling Kauai’s Joshua Agpaoa and Koa Cierras.
Following the make up games, Wednesday, Kauai will travel to Waimea to meet the Menehune, Saturday while Kapaa will travel to meet Island School at the Kauai Community College tennis courts, Saturday.
Both matches are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
