LIHUE – With the March 31 open enrollment deadline looming for Americans to sign up for health insurance, the Agency on Elderly Affairs stands ready to assist anyone who needs help, not just seniors.
“I encourage residents and small businesses especially those that are uninsured or underinsured to contact the Agency on Elderly Affairs,” said Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. “The Elderly Affairs staff received special training on the health insurance options as well as tax subsidies that are available under Obamacare. They have helped a lot of people reduce their out of pocket expenses for health insurance and are prepared to assist others.”
The training grant AEA received from the Hawaii Health Connector has enabled its staff to match qualified individuals with subsidized health plans.
“The Agency on Elderly Affairs has certified assisters who can help you find an affordable health insurance plan that’s right for you,” noted the mayor.
With the enrollment deadline just a few weeks away, the mayor is hoping that the roughly 3,000 Kauai residents that are uninsured or underinsured will seek assistance from the AEA.
