HANALEI — On Valentine’s Day, the Kauai Chapter of The Surfrider Foundation will celebrate its greatest love — the ocean.
The “For Love of the Ocean” fundraiser begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Tahiti Nui Luau Hale in Hanalei with the goals of increasing membership and raising funds for the nonprofit’s work.
“Volunteers and members are the backbone of any not-for-profit organization and we really appreciate all of the marine debris and water samples collected by volunteers,” said Robert Zelkovsky, chair of Kauai Surfrider. “And the more members we have, the bigger voice we have when it comes to legislative issues.”
The event will include a performance by Milo Matthews, followed by dancing music by Goats With Headlamps, who played at Surfrider’s event last June.
There will be light pupus and liquid refreshments can be purchased from Tahiti Nui. Cost is $10 or free to current Surfrider members. Membership applications will be available.
