HONOLULU — The state is up, but Kauai is down.
Hawaii’s Department of Labor and Industrial Relations said Monday that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for December was 4.5 percent, up slightly from 4.4 percent in November.
But for Kauai, that figure fell to 5.1 percent from 5.5 percent the month before.
Both state and county figures are lower than the national average. Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.7 percent in December, down from 7 percent in November, the department said in a press release.
Over the course of the year, the number of unemployed declined by 3,850 to 29,750, the department said in a press release.
