Peter J. Gonsalves Jr.
Peter J. Gonsalves Jr. of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on December 28, 2013, at the age of 77. He was born in Kealia, Kauai on January 19, 1936 and retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents Peter Gonsalves Sr. and mother Jennie Ferreira; brothers, Douglas and Jimmy; sisters, Mary Jane Hanson and Laverne Hamilton and son Clayton Gonsalves.
He is survived by his wife Mona, sons, Peter III and Serphine; daughters, Doris (David) Gregg, Tracy Bramlett, Debi Watson; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert, Tommy and Eddie; sister, Puanani Guajardo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2013, at Immaculate Conception church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Noreen Bautista
Noreen Q. Bautista of Kilauea, Kaua’i was born on March 3, 1957. She passed away on December 17, 2013.
She was the Administrative Officer for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Kaua’i National Wildlife Refuge Complex, Kilauea Point, Hanalei and Hule’ia National Wildlife Refuges.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rachel and Alfonso Bautista. She is survived by her sister, Nelly Bautista and her niece, Raina (Thomas) Bautista-Balai.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at St. Sylvester Church in Kilauea from 8 am to 10 am. Mass will follow. Requested attire is bright colors and/or bold prints.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary, Oahu.
Dorothy Gonsalves
Dorothy Gladys Gonsalves of Kapaa passed away at Garden Isle Healthcare on December 24, 2013, at the age of 87. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 17, 1926, and was the owner/operator of Morris Care Home and retired from TSA.
Preceded in death by her husband, Raphael Gonsalves; mother, Catherine Teves; sons, Jeffrey Bushe, Lawrence Bushe, and daughter-in-law, Shirley Bushe.
She is survived by six children, Eleanor (Richard) French, Sue (Billy) Lopes, Christopher (Stacy) Bushe, Alida Bushe, Brian (Jenny) Bushe, Tracey (Jeffrey) Gillis; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 9 to 10:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Catherine cemetery in Kealia

Big John Kauo
Big John Pakahea Kauo of Kapaa passed away at home on December 29, 2013, at the age of 80. He was born in Anahola on December 13, 1933, a musician and a martial arts instructor he retired as manager of Coco Palms Hotel after 33 years.
Preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Victorino Kauo; brother, Joseph “Butch” Kauo II and sister, Lorna “Sweetheart” Kauo.
He is survived by his daughter, Maile (Porfino) Kauo Vazquez Lagunes; sister, Lynette “Darling” Fernandez, Lenore “Sweetie” Javellana; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Kapaa with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Helen Shimizu
Helen Nishino Shimizu of Kapaa passed away at home on December 17, 2013, at the age of 85. She was born in Kapaa, Kauai on March 23, 1928, and retired as a cashier with Big Save Store after 40 years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Kameichi Shimizu and brother, Herbert Nishino. She is survived by her two sons, Wayne Shimizu of Wailua, Clyde (Lorena) Shimizu of Oahu, two sisters, Lillian and Beatrice Nishino numerous nieces and nephews.
Private burial services were held at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
