Albina Viernes
Albina Villanueva Viernes of Hanamaulu passed away at Straub Clinic and Hospital in Honolulu on December 19, 2013, at the age of 74. She was born in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on March 1, 1939, and was a retired custodian for Kauai High School.
Preceded in death by her husband, Monico; brother, Dionicio Villanueva and sister-in-law, Emilia Villanueva.
She is survived by her son Michael (Maria Victoria) Viernes of Kapolei; 2 grandchildren, Megan and Micah Viernes also of Kapolei; sisters Laureana Calaycay of Hanamaulu, Eugenia Agcaoili, Divina Gapusan and Corazon Villanueva, all of Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines; brother, Clemente (Dionie) Villanueva of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Viernes family with arrangements.
Rose Labez Pratten
Rose Labez Pratten passed away in Hillsborough, Florida on October 4, 2013 at the age of 87. She was born on Kauai on October 18, 1925. She along with her husband established Nature’s Finest Food, a natural food grocery mart in St. Petersburg in 1972.
Preceded in death by her son, Eric Dacay. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Pratten; children, Ronald Dacay, Leonard Dacay, Stella Tomita, Rosarie Dacay-Kelekoma and Jed Dacay; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Estenzo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Catherine Singleton
Catherine (Cay) Wilson Reynolds Singleton passed away on December 15, 2013, at the age of 93. Born on June 15, 1921 in Louisville, Kentucky, she was a Real Estate Development.
Preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Wilson Reynolds; Sister, Georgie.
She is survived by five sons; James, Richard, Joseph, Christopher and Keith Singleton, and grandchildren; Heather, Shawn, Blue, Anna, Lyon, Benjamin, Christian and Sam, and one great-grandson Joon.
