LAWAI — Terry Proctor, principal of the Elsie Wilcox Elementary School, said the people should have been working.
“Don’t you have anything better to do?” he said Saturday, from the lanai of his home. “There’s work needing to be done.”
Led by Brenda Sasaki and Brenda Kuwamura, several dozen students, parents, teachers and staff members trekked from the Lawai Post Office to sing carols and present gifts to Proctor, who is on medical leave and may be out for the remainder of the year.
“We’re on break, now,” the teachers responded to Proctor’s question. “At least we didn’t ring the doorbell and run.”
