Sofia Claver, a Rotary exchange student from the Canary Islands (she said it’s like Honolulu), was busy getting to know the island — performing Thursday with Joanne Parongao and the Waimea High School Music Department Ukulele and Hula Halau, and on Friday, joining the Rotarians at the Lights on Rice parade.
Happy birthday to Maka Chow Kailer who was celebrating his sixth birthday at the parade!
Kudos to Eileen Winters and her crew from The Rotary Club of Kauai on pulling together a great event. Hats off to Jeff Venzon and the East Kauai Lions Club for joining Bev Pang and Barbara Bloemke in making sure everyone was safe!
John Iwamoto and the Boy Scouts from Troop 83 have been helping with the opala since the parade started, and Friday was no exception.
Hats off to Lyah Kama-Drake, Lani Kaui, Jane Gray and all the Kauai Museum staff (Chris Faye came out after it was over) on a great craft fair, and Elizabeth Freeman for the great opening of the Festival of Lights!
