CBRE, Inc, Kukui Marketplace and Kukui Grove Center donated over $15,000 worth of fixtures and displays from the former Borders location to local organizations in preparation for the construction of Pier 1 Imports, which is set to open in early 2014.
The equipment was donated to support the Salvation Army, Kawaikini Public Charter School, Kauai Habitat for Humanity, Island School and other local groups.
“We are thankful for the opportunity to reclaim and repurpose the equipment (shelving and fixtures) from the Borders space,” said James Klicpera, of Kauai Habitat for Humanity. “Some will be used as fixtures in our ReStore, while other goods will generate resale revenue to further Kauai Habitat’s mission of building affordable housing.”
Last year, the Kauai CBRE Management team worked alongside Habitat for Humanity to provide labor and sweat equity assisting with a habitat housing project as part of CBRE Cares Hawaii.
