Steven Tavares
Steven Tavares of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on November 17, 2013, at the age of 68. He was born on Kauai on December 18, 1944. He was a retired fire fighter for the County of Kauai.
He was preceded in death by parents, Manuel and Elizabeth Tavares.
He is survived by wife, Isabelle Tavares, Kalaheo; sons, James (Serina) Tavares, Kalaheo; Christopher (Jeanie) Tavares, Wailua; daughter, Jennifer (Jesse) Pasag, Kalaheo; grandchildren, Shawn Tavares; Tanner Tavares; Connor Tavares; Shelbee Tavares; Chloe Tavares; Leila Pasag.
Celebration of life Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo. Visitation 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Inocencio Efhan
Inocencio “Sancho” Efhan of Kapaa passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2013, at the age of 82. He was born in Kapaa, Kauai on October 10, 1931. A veteran of the United States Marines and United States Coast Guard, he retired as a cook from Kauai Surf and The Westin Hotel. He was an avid bowler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ciriaca and Tiofilo Efhan; brothers, Alfredo; Lorenzo; Francisco; Maximo and Juan Efhan; sisters, Patricia Chapman; Mary Louis and Rosita Efhan; granddaughter, Shawnte “Keala” Efhan Jaquias.
He is survived by his wife, Mercedes Efhan of Kapaa; daughters, Bernie (Harlan) Nakae of Kapaa; Suzie Efhan of Kalaheo; Sherrie (Norman) Duterte of Kapaa; Val Yadao of Puhi; Lulu (Wilbert) Cummings of Puhi; sons, Gregory “Teo” Efhan of Anahola; Aaron (Janis) Efhan of Lihue; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gary (Judith) Efhan of California; Vicente (Helga) Efhan of Kapaa; Henry (Priscilla) Efhan of Kapaa; hanai sister, Lorraine Efhan of Kapaa; hanai brother, Larry (Mary) Ephan of Lawai; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion beginning at 9:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow.

Margaret Akana
Margaret “Tita” Ka’onohiolaokalani Goodwin Akana passed away on October 16, 2013 in her home at the blessed age of 91. She was born on July 9, 1922 in Paliuli, Waimea, Kaua’i.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Kani Goodwin Sr. and Margaret Kamala Kama’i Goodwin of Paliuli, Waimea, Kaua’i; brothers, William Kani Goodwin Jr., Lawrence Laulani Goodwin, Robert Hi’ilei Goodwin, Ellsworth Goodwin; husband, Solomon Maluna Waipa Akana Sr.; sons, Curtis Naninohea Goodwin, Solomon Maluna Waipa Akana Jr., Norman Kuakini Waipa Akana Sr.; and daughter, Ernestine Ku’uleinanioPaliuli Summers.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Buddy” Kapenakealohaokalana Silva of Kuli’ou’ou, O’ahu; sons, William Kani Goodwin (Malia) Akana of Kekaha, Stewart Kopa (Layla) Akana of Puhi, Calvin Kealoha (Jeanne) Fu of Hanapepe; daughters, Ellen Leinani (Tony) Blas of Wailua, Carol Hali’imaile (Walter) Apana of Anahola; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Akana (Norman) of Eleele; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Ka’onohiolaokalani’s life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Lucy Wright Park, Waimea, Kaua’i. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, service at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration to honor and remember Ka’onohiolaokalani.

Agnes Billie “Nana” Blackstad of Lawai, Kauai passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 13, 2013, at the age of 92. Born in Honokaa, Hawaii on March 4, 1921, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alec “Sonny” Blackstad and baby granddaughter, Alisa Blackstad.

Maria Caridad Ragasa Asuncion of Las Vegas, NV passed away on November 19, 2013, at Sunrise Hospital at the age of 83. She was born on November 23, 1929 in Sta. Cruz, Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She retired from McBryde Sugar Plantation.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vicente Guzman Asuncion; parents, Catalino and Martina Ragasa; siblings, Pracedes and Lourdes Ragasa, Pedro Ragasa, Fernando (Matia) Ragasa, Santiago (Alejandra) Ragasa, Jose Ragasa, Crispin (Leonila) Ragasa, Rafael (Patrocinio) Ragasa, Rosalina Alquiza.
She is survived by her son, Rolando (Virginia) Asuncion of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Cristina (Rizal) Balgos of Las Vegas, NV, Catalina (Mario) Yago of Las Vegas, NV, Celenia (Winnie) Ruaboro of West Covina, CA, Cynthia (Chato) Iglesia of Las Vegas, NV, Rose (Mario) Dulatre of Lihue, HI. Sister Josefina (Felix) Iloreta of Kapaa, HI; Brother Rosario (Violet) Ragasa of Molokai, HI; Sisters in law, Ellen Ragasa and Esmerna Ragasa of the Philippines. There are 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Rocco Louis Lozito
Rocco Louis Lozito of Wailua, Kauai passed away on November 16, 2013 at his residence at the age of 77. Born on November 26, 1935 in New Jersey, he was a Hotel owner.
Preceded in death by his son Paul Lozito, daughter Laurie Lozito, and sister Lucy Braken.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Lozito of Wailua, Kauai; son, Peter Lozito of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Katie Lozito, Ambie Mazzeo, Paul Lozito, Thomas Lozito, and Jason Lozito; sisters, May Descala of New Jersey, and Fedella Vodopia of Florida; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on December 2, 2013 from 9 am to 10 am at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapaa, Service at 10 am. Interment will be at a later date. Casual attire is suggested. Please omit flowers.

Rock Ivan LaCro
Rock Ivan LaCro passed away on November 19, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 58. Born on October 14, 1955 in Kauai, he was a Truck Driver/Mechanic with Bekins Van Lines.
He is survived by his son Michael of Honolulu, Oahu; two daughters, Kira of Wailua, Kauai and Casey of Kona, Hawaii; mother Rose Marie LaCro; six sisters, Donna LaCro of Oahu, Ashlet Stephen Girald of Kauai, Nan LaCro of Kauai, Corvette LaCro Cambra of Oahu, Richlette LaCro Elias Corpus Jr. of Las Vegas, and Lana LaCro of Oahu; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai at 12:00 noon. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire.
