LIHUE — The North Shore beat the East 3-0 in the Boys Under 14 division for the title of the Will Veeck Championships recently at the North Vidinha fields.
The win led by Emiliano Dela Mora gave the American Youth Soccer Organization, Region 941 its only victory.
Lihue Girls Under 14 may have scored the first goal, but Koloa answered with four goals to take the all-Region 940 matchup.
Playing on the short field, Lihue’s goalkeeper Chassidy Cantorna punted long leading to a quick strike by Sonoi Kawakami for the 1-0 lead.
The score was answered in the second quarter when Koloa’s Kyla Bandsma drove for a far shot, the ball nestling in the net for the 1-1 stalemate at the half.
Bianca Colagreco put Koloa in the driver’s seat in the third quarter, heading in a corner kick. A fourth quarter goal iced the win.
Cambria Ort came up with a hard shot from outside the penalty box that Nalani Thain put in the goal to cap the 4-1 win.
Hanapepe’s Girls Under 12 team finished undefeated with a 4-3 win over Kapaa.
In another all-Region 940 finals, the Koloa Boys Under 12 took a 5-2 win over Kalaheo behind two goals apiece from Conor Hunt and Ben Griep.
Whitney Lugo added the final goal after taking a long kick from Koloa goalkeeper Connor Mackenzie.
Kalaheo got its two goals from Carlos Lang.
The Will Veeck Championships bring the AYSO season to a close when the top teams from both Region 940 and 941 meet in a single elimination tournament at the North Vidinha fields.
