LIHUE — American Youth Soccer Organization, Region 940 teams swept the second day of the Will Veeck soccer tournament to advance to the finals.
Hanalei forfeited its game to Koloa in the first of two Girls Under 14 matches, and Na Hoku edged the Legends of Kapaa (Region 941), 3-1.
On the boys’ fields, Honathan Hine and Carlos Lang each scored two goals to lead the Kalaheo Galaxy to a 4-2 win over the Kapaa Boars in an offensive second half explosion.
Alae Miike and Austin Camat notched goals for the Boars.
The Farmers lost little time turning the dirt against the Kapaa Cheetos, M. Hunt and W. Lugo each scoring two goals to lead the 7-1 win.
Kaeo Rezentes picked his way through traffic and finally broke through late in the game to prevent a shutout for the Cheetos.
“Just go out there and play your little hearts out,” Lihue Na Hoku coach Dana Temme told the pinkshirts at the start of the game against the Legends.
Chassidy Cantorna and Shayna Shigematsu put Na Hoku ahead with Lola Temme adding the icing in the final minute of play.
The winning teams advance to the finals of the Will Veeck Inter-regional finals, Saturday at the North Vidinha fields where the Girls Under 12 and the Boys Under 14 kick off starting at 9 a.m.
