Kauai High School marksman Colby Ihara-Takase led the Kauai Interscholastic Federation champions to a seventh-place finish Tuesday at the 2013 Civilian Marksmanship Program Air Riflery Championships at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall on Oahu.
Ihara-Takase, firing a 180-4 in the prone position, 164-3 in the standing position, and 171-4 in the kneeling position, emerged with a 515-11 total in the Sporter Championship format to lead the Kauai boys to an 1800-20 total.
Other Red Raider team members included Ryker Amimoto (178-4, 125-0, 164-3, 467-7), Micah Chung (175-0, 102-0, 158-1, 435-1) and Alec Greer (152-1, 121-0, 110-0, 383-1).
Jaron Parongao, ndividualist from Waimea High School, finished 30th on scores of 175-5, 145-1, 156-1, 489-4.
Mid Pacific Institute, led by Zachary Chang (189-5, 169-2, 171-2, 529-9) won the boys team championship with a 2092-41 total.
On the girls’ range, Brooke Hornos (183-5, 152-2, 179-2, 514-9) led the Kauai High School girls to a fifth place finish.
Other team members included Emma Leary (158-2, 132-1, 158-2, 448-5), Meghan Leary (175-1, 110-1, 145-0 430-2) and Sara Koide (156-1, 116-2, 149-0, 421-3).
Alexys Bermudez of Waimea, individualist, finished 39th with scores of 174-4, 114-1, 163-3, 451-8).
Pearl City, led by Ashley Somera (189-6, 171-0, 175-4, 535-10), topped the girls.
