HANAPEPE — Fathers played an important role at the Waimea High School Homecoming celebration Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium.
Benjie Coma, father of Bethany Coma, the Homecoming Queen, joined the fathers of the queen’s royal court in escorting his daughter through the Saber Arch provided by the Waimea High School Jr. ROTC Saber Unit under the direction of Major Victor Aguilar.
Bethany was joined by Jaclyn Nishihira, filling the Miss Menehune position, Talia Young, a standout player from the Kauai Interscholastic Federation Girls Volleyball champions, wearing the crown of Miss Football.
Alexys Bermudez, a strong rifle marksman in the Waimea air riflery program, and battalion commander of the Jr. ROTC unit, donned the sash of Miss Victory, and Taylor Gaspar was announced as Miss School Spirit.
Jasmine Santella represented the Class of 2017, Athena Abadilla represented the Class of 2016, Harley Broyles wore the sash for the Class of 2015, and Janelle Papa wore the crown for the Class of 2014.
The Homecoming court was presented amidst the pageantry of the Waimea High School band under the direction of Joanne Parongao and featuring the Waimea High School cheer squad.
