Angelika Melchor Questin, 16, of the St. Catherine Church Filipino Catholic Club, was crowned the 2013 Kauai Queen of Charity during the recent Kauai Council of Filipino Catholic Club coronation celebration.
The daughter of Ferdinand and Celia Questin of Kapaa, Angelika is a senior at Kapaa High School, where she is a member of the school’s bowling and tennis teams.
The new Kauai Queen of Charity is also a member of the St. Catherine Youth Ministry, where she is a Eucharistic minister and on the youth choir.
More than 250 Catholic Club members and their guests witnessed the coronation of the Kauai Queen of Charity and her royal court, which includes LeinaRose Fune of St. Raphael FCC in Koloa named the Princess of Faith, Janine Joy Prado of St. Theresa FCC in Kekaha named the Princess of Hope, Loie Lapitan of Immaculate Conception FCC in Lihue named Princess of Peace, and Krystin-Marie Garcia of Holy Cross-Sacred Heart FCC in Kalaheo crowned the Princess of Prudence.
Prior to the coronation celebration, a prayer service in honor of the first Filipino Saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila was held.
Questin will join the Kauai delegates to the state convention Nov. 8-10 on Oahu.
Funds from the Charity Queen project are being used for scholarship and other charitable work.
