KOLOA — The Koloa Redskins Mitey Mites’ fundraising efforts are underway following the team’s notification of its acceptance to play at the Aloha Stadium.
One of the teams under the Koloa Pop Warner Organization, coaches Kealii Inouye and Billy DeCosta of the Mitey Mites, announced a special luau, Nov. 1 at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
“This is a two-part event,” said DeCosta. “From 5 p.m., people can enjoy the luau and entertainment. Then, at 8 p.m., doors open to a special adult comedy show.”
Tickets for the luau, which will feature the unique renderings of Sean Carillo and Chico & Lance among the lineup, is $20 per person and covers the luau and entertainment lineup.
Tickets to the adult comedy show that’s based on a popular television show is $10 per person. DeCosta said the theme is adult-based and no one under 18 years old will be admitted to the comedy show.
“The community has been truly supportive of the Mitey Mites’ efforts at trying to get to Aloha Stadium,” DeCosta said. “We asked the mayor if we could use the convention hall so people would have a more central location to help the team while enjoying the hospitality of the Koloa Redskins.”
DeCosta said a lot of the items for the luau have been contributed.
“Kaneshiro Farms, whose Mamo Kaneshiro is a longtime supporter of the Koloa Pop Warner program, donated the pig for the luau, and the family of Jed Kaohi, one of the coaches, is doing the kalua,” DeCosta said. “Mark’s Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering is also contributing a lot of items for the luau. A lot of the team’s parents and community volunteers are digging deep to help these kids with their chance of a lifetime opportunity.”
Tickets are available from any of the Koloa Mitey Mites players, Inouye said.
