LIHUE — High drama on the island.
Which island, well, the television producers can’t say yet.
Yes, the reality show could be filmed on Kauai, but the team filming the program, The Retreat, won’t say until they lock up a contract with the property owners.
That could be two weeks out yet, said Kristen Webley, casting associate for the reality show.
In the meantime, the company pitching the production, Good Clean Fun LLC., wants Hawaiians with expertise in the service sector to try out for it.
Experience catering to high-end tourists helps aspiring stars, so does personality, of course.
“Reality TV is always looking for drama and over-the-top characters that are willing to share everything on TV,” Webley said of what the show is looking for. “They don’t hold back — larger than life.”
The show will be filmed at an exclusive resort in Hawaii. The series will offer viewers a peek into this private resort’s daily operations and introduces them to an unforgettable staff, which the series will be centered around, the company announced in a press release Sunday.
Available positions are estate manager, resort director, activities director or event planner, executive chef, butler, concierge, bartender, head waiter, groundskeeper, resort handyman, executive housekeeper, yoga instructor, surf instructor and masseuse.
Actors need not apply. It’s a reality show focusing on people with successful careers in service, preferable on Hawaii, though it is a nationwide casting call, Webley said.
“We’re not looking for actors, we’re looking for experts in these field,” she said.
The company produced reality shows Run’s House and Life of Ryan. The new show will be on a “major cable network,” the press release said.
