LIHUE — Akihiko Kimura, president of the Oshima Lions Club, presented a check for $1,000 to Lions Past District Governors Roy Nishida and John Uyeno Friday.
Uyeno said the check will be turned over to the East Kauai Lions Club, which will distribute the funds.
“We are extremely delighted this year’s visit marks the 50th anniversary sisterhood relationship between the two islands, Kauai and Oshima,” Kimura said. “It also is the 50th anniversary of the Oshima Lions Club.”
The Oshima Lions were part of the delegation from Japan that celebrated the County of Kauai and Suo Oshima 50th Anniversary of the Resolution as Affiliated Sister Cities and Reaffirmation Ceremony.
