Ohana Christian Fellowship announced it has called Pastor Rick Asche to be its new Pastor.
“This comes at an appropriate time in the life and history of Ohana Christian Fellowship as they celebrate 15 years of doing ministry and life together here on Kauai and to the community,” according to a press release.
The Rev. Ed Terui filled in as interim pastor for the past two years. Asche was officially installed at a commissioning service with the Ohana members on July 28.
Asche and his wife Deanne of 16 years, along with their daughters Aubry and Jessalyn, come to Kauai from Sacramento, Calif.
“Rick is sensitive and respectful of the cultures here in the islands and adapts well as he has been learning all he can about the history and practices of the island people,” the release said.
Both Rick and Deanne Asche were raised in Christian families and their parents helped launch local Evangelical Free Churches in their community.
Asche graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a bachelor’s in theology and philosophy and later earned master’s degrees in pastoral studies.
“He loves to study God’s Word, is passionate about people, is creative in his ministry style and has an ability to reach young adults and young families,” the release said. Services are 10 a.m. Sunday at Kapaa Middle School.
