Kawehi Ephan, red-shirting in softball this year, said the Waimea High School cheerleaders wore pink for the same reason, and Judge Randal Valenciano said the referees had pink penalty flags, pink whistles, and Shawn McGurn even had a pink bag and pink ribbon.
Kauai volleyball coach Merrill Carvalho had his pink “K” shirt on, and during Friday’s game against Kapaa, his volleyball girls sported pink ribbons in their hair, along with the girls from Evan Costa’s Kapaa team.
The Kapaa cheerleaders might not have pink, but helped Josie Pablo and the Mahelona Hospital Auxiliary in the first-ever cancer walk Friday!
Great job, people!
