LIHUE — Kauai High School air riflery preserved its undefeated record with a sweep of Island School last week.
Over at the Hanapepe Armory, Alexys Bermudez and Jaron Parongao of the Waimea teams posted the highest scores of the day to lead the Menehune to a sweep over the Kapaa Warriors.
Brooke Hornos topped the girls scoring at the Kauai High School range, finishing with 249 points (91 prone, 73 standing, 85 kneeling) to lead the Red Raider girls to an 1,151-927 win over the Voyager women.
Amanda Nguyen topped the Island School girls with a 203 (87-45-71), the sole Voyager girl to post in the 200-mark.
On the boys’ range, Alec Greer netted high-point honors at 239 (86-66-87) to lead the Kauai boys to an 1,171-976 win over Island School.
Chad Andrade topped the Island School boys with a 231 (87-75-69), the only Voyager boy to post in the 200-mark.
Bermudez posted a day’s high 252 (88-73-91) to lead the Menehune girls to an 1,185-1,079 win over the Kapaa girls, who got high-point honors from Marissa Goo (82-66-78-226).
Parongao finished with 259 (91-80-88) points to lead the Waimea boys to a 1,224-979 win over the Kapaa boys who were led by Justin Hatchell posting a 232 (84-71-77).
Waimea next travels to Island School on Wednesday while Kauai travels to the Kapaa High School range, both matches starting at 3 p.m.
