Lyle Kobashigawa said the Kauai Kitchens in Kalaheo is now open for dinner, Wednesdays through Fridays until 9 p.m.
Lyle was part of the Kauai Kookie ohana who went all out for the Rice Festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce.
Randall Francisco got help from Dirk Soma, of the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, and of course, his girls, Chantal Zarbaugh and Caroline Manera-Texeira who rebounded from the Thursday night 3rd Quarter Membership meeting.
Esther Kawakami-Williams had her daughter Sarah help with the special Kauai Kookie offering of three special flavors of cookies, okoshi (Esther said Lyle found that), and the special rice crispies musubi with the M&M ume.
Sandy Poenhelt had Butter Mochi pie (had to be rice), and what was the rice ingredient in the Kauai Coffee?
Congratulations to Chef Rafael Camarillo and Deborah Crippen on winning the Fried Rice contest. Glenn Hayakawa was the people’s favorite.
