The Holoholona Strikers, an Under 14 girls team, celebrated the opening of the Kauai Soccer Association fall season with a 2-1 win over Onipaa.
Playing at the North Vidinha fields under the direction of KSA coach Donna Palmer, Lyndsie Tresler broke open for Onipaa for the first score of the game in the first half.
The Strikers answered the goal when Kylin Arruda-Sukehira crossed the ball to Aretha Matsushima for the 1-1 deadlock at the break.
Arruda-Sukehira nailed the go-ahead in the second half, taking a pass from Bernie Lindsey and heading the sphere into the net for the 2-1 math.
Team members include China Hufman, Taelyn Predrick, Leila Nelson, Summer Mead, Bernie Lindsey, Nevaeh Arruda-Kapu, Mikela Griffin, Sophia Sherrer, Aretha Matsushima, Kylin Arruda-Sukehira, Raven Ochoa, and Jessica Palmer.
KSA soccer games take place on Sundays at the Vidinha Stadium North Vidinha fields starting from 11 a.m.
The public is invited to view the games at no charge.
