“Uncle” Mike Young said he has roots on his mother’s side in Kapaia. “Uncle” Mike is visiting with Crystine Ito (Cyndi Ayonon remembers her from Kapaa High School soccer), the 61st Cherry Blossom Festival Queen, and Lori Higashi of Mililani (four Longs Drugs and they’re all busy, all the time, she said).
The royalty are being escorted by Sydette Higuchi of the Hawaii Japanese Chamber of Commerce who sponsors the festival.
Our Chamber of Commerce’s Randall Francisco was checking out the Sheraton Kauai Resort craft fair (kudos to Debbie Yanagihara on another great event!), looking for crafters for this weekend’s Rice Festival (anyone got a “I Like Rice” shirt?) at the Rice Shopping Center.
Kudos to Cindy Oda on the K9-Kauai line (they’ll be at Rice) and the fashion accessories for the “4-legged kids.”
OK, time to get serious … it’s off to see Richard Kuga and the General Atomics Science Show!
