Kalama selected for Safeway scholarship
Kauai High School alumnus Tanya Kalama of Lihue was one of 10 recent college graduates statewide who were selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Safeway Hawaii Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Now in its fourth year, the fund provides scholarship opportunities to current and past Safeway employees and their descendants. Students who applied through the Hawaii Community Foundation, which administers the fund, were required to have maintained a 3.0 grade point average, with preference given to students planning to attend a college or university in Hawaii.
