LIHUE — Performance Basketball Clinics will be on Kauai for a Shooting Clinic Sept. 7 and 8 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Clarence Sales of Team Central Basketball said the clinic will be led by Coach Byron Mello and his staff.
Registration for the 2-day clinic is $75 per player. Registration for the Kauai Shooting Clinic can be done by visiting pbclinics.com.
The clinic will be broken into two sessions, the first from 8 to 10:15 a.m. and the second starting at 10:15 a.m. and running through 12:30 p.m. on each day.
In this format, each player receives 4.5 hours of instruction. Following the clinic, each player will also receive a shooting DVD of topics covered during the clinic.
The name of the game is putting the ball in the basket, states the Performance Clinics website on its description of the Shooting Clinic. Great shooters are a combination of mindset, technique, fitness and confidence.
During the clinic, players learn the fundamentals of proper shooting technique in an easy to understand, step-by-step method, find out how to shoot properly off the catch and the dribble and more.
Mello has coached boys and girls basketball in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu for more than 20 years, having been a head coach at the intermediate, junior varsity, and varsity Division I levels.
He also worked as the program coordinator and boys varsity basketball head coach at both Maryknoll School and Damien Memorial School.
Additionally, Coach Mello served on the staff of the Snow Valley Basketball School in Santa Barbara, Calif. for six years.
Snow Valley is considered by many coaches to be the premier teaching basketball school in the United States.
Performance Basketball Clinics offer youth, advanced, elite basketball clinics on Oahu.
