Kaui Tanaka of the Mayor’s Office is going to miss her summer hire, Shona Williams, when she gets involved in the 50th anniversary of a sister city, later this year.
Shona, a student at the University of California San Diego majoring in international studies, ended her tenure as a summer hire Friday.
Kaui said Shona’s sister, Marie Williams, works with the County’s Planning Department.
Kudos to Jennifer Arruda, another summer hire, who pulled together the leadership awards program for the Summer Enrichment Program through the Department of Parks and Recreation.
For Roberta Kable, Daphne McClure and others who wanted to know about the hanafuda cards (with instructions and the yaku sheet), Melanie Okamoto said it’s being sold by the Kauai Kupuna Council with the proceeds benefiting the senior programs. The cards are available through Okamoto, who acts as a liason for the kupuna at the Parks office.
