Repairs have been completed on a broken water main on Poipu Road and water service was restored to customers in the area, the Department of Water said late today.
The break occurred around noon on Poipu Road, and a field operations supervisor called in to issue a shut down alert.
DOW has not stated where the break occurred specifically, but did say it has temporarily stopped service along Koloa, Malino and Waikomo roads.
It took about five hours to repair the broken water main.
All 111 residential and business customers who signed up for the Mayor’s Connect-CTY program, a mass notification service that disseminate voice messages regarding civil defense emergencies, were affected.
This is just a fraction of the total number affected, said M.J. Garasi, public relations secretary for DOW.
“The Department of Water thanks the affected residents for their patience while the repairs were underway,” a 5 p.m. DOW press release read.
