Bryan Goss of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Stratton remembers the days when he was aboard the USCG Cutter Point Evans stationed at Nawiliwili in 1998. He said they visited Shipwreck’s every day after work.
Goss was one of about 160 U.S. Coast Guard personnel aboard the Stratton, which docked Friday for a weekend visit.
Jim Jung said the Stratton’s crew worked with the veteran volunteers on a cleanup project at the Kauai Veterans Center Saturday.
Jim, Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., Norberto Garcia, the Kauai Veterans Council commandant, and Aida Cruz of the Kauai Veterans Center were hosted by Bob Crowell, harbormaster, for a portside visit to the Stratton which was commissioned just two years ago.
Hats off to Sybil Nishioka (Shane Nishioka was one of the FIF officials) on another great dodgeball tournament at the All Saints Gym.
Tracy Bauman said Steve and Alana are missing this year’s tournament because they’re on a houseboat in 100-degree heat. Good thing we live Kauai!
