A structure fire in the Ulu Ko subdivision caused roughly $200,000 damage to a home and its contents but no one was injured in the blaze. Firefighters responded to the incident at 2627 Alaekea Street at about 2:50 p.m.
A structure fire in the Ulu Ko subdivision caused roughly $200,000 damage to a home and its contents but no one was injured in the blaze.
Firefighters responded to the incident at 2627 Alaekea Street at about 2:50 p.m. today and found smoke coming from the second story windows. Upon entering the home it was discovered that a couch on the first floor was on fire.
Responders were able to contain most of the damage to the ground floor and the fire was under control by 3:06 p.m. There was some smoke damage which spread to the second floor. Damage to the structure is estimated at $150,000, while damage to contents is estimated at $50,000.
No one is currently occupying the home, according to neighbors.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
