LIHUE — Team Lihue girls 12 and under and 14 and under teams earned silver at the National Junior Basketball tournament on Oahu over the weekend.
Coach Max Manera, coaching the Team Lihue Girls under 14 squad along with Rafael Corpuz, said both teams succumbed to the Iolani Girls 12 and 14 teams during the championships, which was held Sunday at the Manoa Gym on Oahu.
“We are so proud of their hard work and play throughout this NJB tournament,” Manera said.
Also making the trip, Manera said the Team Lihue Boys 14 and under team rounded out the traveling contingent.
Coaches for the boys team are Dr. Reid Tamanaha and Clarence Corpuz. Coaches for the Girls 12 and under team is Teresa Gonsalves. Team moms are Lilane Corpuz and Sonya Tonyokwe, and team parents include Andrew Vea, Tina Higashi and Yvette Cadawas-Tanicala.
Team members of the 12 and Under girls include Cierra Tanicala, Tiana Manera, Justine Henry, Rebekah Corpuz, Marissa Layosa, Resa Rapozo, Courtney Rosa, Tia Fulks, Taylor Cox, Hiilani Chow and Sereney Chung.
Team members of the 14 and Under girls include Malyssa Manera, Marissa Martinez, Ashley Lucas, Lauren Lagoc, Casey Fernandez, Shania Kahepuu and Samantha Coloma.
