Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. is fully immersed in the Koloa Plantation Days celebration, taking to horseback Sunday during the opening of the 14th annual Plantation Days rodeo.
Melissa McFerrin said the mayor was having fun playing with the baby goats Friday during the paniolo bar-b-que at CJM Country Stables (was Manetti DeCosta of Keoki’s there?).
Despite the full schedule, Mayor Carvalho met up with Randall Francisco of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce to welcome home Kumu Hula Leinaala Pavao Jardin, Jeslie Ann Vidinha-Pavao, Luke Hunadi and Ka Lei Mokihana O Leinaala keiki hula dancers who swept the Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula Competition…mahalo to Taddy Penzetta and Anolani Higashi for keeping everyone in the loop.
This was a nice chance to catch up with Chala Vidinha, Dickie Chang and Bruce Smalling who were at the airport to congratulate the winners.
OK, time to go see what’s cooking at the Kauai Culinary Market.
