Soccer players ages 6 through 13 are invited to a free soccer clinic Aug. 10 at Vidinha Stadium.
The clinic, hosted by the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation and the University of Hawaii women’s soccer team, will feature attacking and defending concepts, advanced ball control drills, position specific tactics, and teamwork principles.
Participants should bring their own ball, water, soccer shoes and shin guards.
Players 6 through 9 years old meet from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Players ages 10 through 13 take the field from 10 to 11 a.m.
Both groups will have an opportunity for autographs and photos following the clinic.
The public is invited to watch an inter-squad scrimmage at Vidinha Stadium starting at 6:30 p.m.
The University of Hawaii women’s soccer program, featuring senior forward and Kauai High School graduate Skye Shimabukuro and led by Michelle Nagamine, finished the 2012 season with an 8-9-3 record, 3-5-1 in conference play for sixth place.
