KOLOA — Locally owned Coldwell Banker Makai Properties promotes local artist, Diane Wry, during Koloa Plantation Days from July 19-28.
Wry’s piece, “Sunset On Sugar,” depicting the Koloa Sugar Mill, is featured in Coldwell Banker Makai Properties’ full-page ad in the Koloa Plantation Days special insert in the Garden Island Newspaper.
“We chose Diane’s (Wry) beautiful painting (Sunset on Sugar) of the iconic mill because it perfectly encapsulates the idea behind Koloa Plantation Days. Essentially, a time to celebrate the past – the sugarcane plantation era,” said Roberta Charles, broker-in-charge at Coldwell Banker Makai Properties.
Charles went on to add, “in return for allowing us to use her piece, we hope to introduce more people – local and visitors alike — to Diane’s (Wry) work as well as promote public awareness of all local artists and craftspeople. Kauai is rich with creative talent and that talent deserves to be showcased.”
When asked what inspired her to paint Sunset of Sugar, Wry explained that while walking her dog, she “fell in love with the warm early (morning) and evening light on the mountain and Sugar Mill.”
During the Koloa Plantation Days, Coldwell Banker Makai Properties is co-sponsoring the Family Fun Run on Sunday, July 28.
