LIHUE — Bruce Gagnon, coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, visits Kauai Friday for a presentation at the Kapaa Public Library.
The free event begins at 6 p.m. and will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
“His talk will provide details about the role the U.S. plays as provider of security for growing corporate globalization and how as a result communities like Kauai become dependent on military spending for jobs,” states a press release.
Gagnon will discuss the competition among the world’s powers for diminishing natural resources. Gagnon is a senior fellow at the Nuclear Policy Research Institute founded by Dr. Helen Caldecott. In 2006, he received the Dr. Benjamin Spock Peacemaker Award.
