Congratulations to Cora Balocan (Coach Alan from the Kauai High School baseball team is her son!) on providing nearly 50 years of service to Sueoka Store in Koloa.
Rod Sueoka said she was working when he was still in school, and today, she continues to offer great service from behind the cashier’s stand.
Cora said she doesn’t remember the Chang Fu Kee blue bus, but does remember when they went to school in the back of a canvas-covered truck.
Unfortunately, as all of the Sueoka Store staff collected in preparation for the Koloa Plantation Days, Wendy Kawaguchi “conveniently” had an appointment. But lunch from the Sueoka Store snack shop hit the spot!
OK, this is the weekend when you get to see how Chris Faye does the “mini yagura” at the Japanese festival, and you need to get to the Kauai Museum early before the bento runs out. If you’re lucky, Lenore Klass might be helping the FCE ladies.
Melisa Paterson gets to show her in-laws how Kauai Museum does the bon dance, too.
