LIHUE — Zack Rogow dedicated his latest book in loving memory of his mother, Mildred “Mickey” Rogow, who he says was not afraid to wear her pajamas to a chic restaurant at a fashionable Italian resort.
“These poems celebrate her life and values, as well as the reasons for living that eluded her at points along her path,” Rogow wrote in a release about “My Mother and the Ceiling Dancers,” his seventh collection of poetry.
As part of Friday Night Art Walk, Rogow will visit with local residents and sign copies of his books beginning at 6 p.m. at Talk Story Bookstore.
Rogow is the author, editor or translator of 19 books and plays, including seven collections of poetry, a novel, three anthologies, four volumes of translation and a children’s book, according to his online biography.
He teaches in the graduate writing program at the California College of Arts, and in the low-residency graduate program at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
Rogow was born in New York City and lives in San Francisco.
Talk Story is located at 3785 Hanapepe Road. For more information call 335-6469 or visit http://www.thirteenways.org/poets/Zack/zack.html.
