Raymond Espino Jr.
Raymond “Kokosoy” Espino Jr., 55, of Hanapepe passed away at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital on June 10, 2013. Born on March 29, 1958 in Waimea, Kauai, he was a Heavy equipment operator with the County of Kauai.
Preceded in death by his mother, Carol Cabacungan Espino. He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie McDaniels-Espino; four daughters, Tiffany Espino-Tubon of Honolulu, Carlina Marie Espino-Balino of Hanapepe, Victoria Ann Espino of Hanapepe, and Alana Lian Espino of Koloa; father, Raymond Espino Sr.; two brothers, Robby Lee Espino and Anson Makana Espino, both of Kaumakani; two sisters, Melanie Espino Honjo of Kalaheo, and Lorelei “Lola” Espino-Campos of Kipu; seven grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Kauai Christian Fellowship. Friends may visit with the family from 9am; service will begin at 11am.

Frank L. Escalante
Frank L. Escalante of the Waiwaiole Ohana of Kapaa Lived in Jacksonville, FL, died April 4, 2013, at the age of 63. Born June 3, 1949, he went to Kapaa School and graduated from Farrington High School in Honolulu, HI. He joined the US Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972 after 3 tours in Vietnam. He was a Tech Rep for Ingersoll Rand and Dresser Rand companies that handled the military contracts for the US Navy, worked mostly at shipyards, retired early and opened two automotive body shops, then retired permanently.
He is preceded in death by his mother Rosalina Waiwaiole King of Kapaa, HI; sister, Emerine Leonani King Manfreda of Hartford, CT; and brother, Gene Allen King of Central Point, OR.
He is survived by his two sons, Timothy L. Waiwaiole-Escalante of Koloa, HI, and David V. Tobias of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, four grandchildren, Kawika Escalante-Fernandez (Timothy); Chloe, Piper and Hanna Tobias (David); brother, Seth Umiamaka of the Big Island, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service was held in Jacksonville, FL April 13, 2013.
Final internment and services will be held at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery on June 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Casual attire is suggested.
Peter R. Saker DMD
Peter R. Saker DMD, 64, of Lihue passed away at home on June 9, 2013. Born on October 31, 1948 in New Orleans Louisiana, he was a Dentist with Ho’ola Lahui Hawaii Community Health Center.
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Sarmento-Saker; stepson, Kevin K. (Naomi) Vidinha of Kekaha; daughter, Christine Ann (Toni) Ahlbrecht of Tigard OR and stepdaughter, Amy Vidinha of Kapaa; six brothers, Richard Saker of Aurora CO, David J. Saker of Houston TX, Joseph D. (Josephine) Saker of Philippines, Louie Saker of Sarasota FL, Russ Saker of Wichita KS, and Michael Saker of Wichita KS; five sisters, Dorothy Maram of Schaumburg IL, Anna Grace (Robert) Deschino of Highlands Ranch CO, Cabrini (Jerry) Nolls of Cheyenne WY, Mary Cox of Sarasota FL, and Bernedette (Kevin) Luebking of Altus OK; three grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 am, on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Service will begin at 10:00 am; burial will follow at Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery. Casual attire.

Shawn Leong
Shawn Angelo Chung Leong of Kilauea passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 14, 2013, at the age of 51. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 9, 1962, and worked in construction as a mason.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Leong; two sons; Makaia (Tatijana) Leong and Nainoa (Tiare) Leong; two daughters; Sharai (Phillip) Soltren and Tessie (Robert) Boyer; six grandchildren, Taina, Ka’eo, Lehua, Kiele, Kawena and Kailea; father, Richard Leong Sr; mother, Evon Sparacino; two brothers, Richard “Rick” (Renee) Leong Jr., Curt (Jessica) Leong; four sisters, Leola Leong, Lititia Carreira, Lavida Leong, Lavel (Robert) Brito; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. and services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Kilauea Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2453 Kolo Rd, Kilauea, Kauai. Family graciously declines flowers.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Leong family with arrangements.
Tomoko Watanabe
Tomoko Watanabe, 94, of Lihue Kauai, passed away at home on June 11, 2013. Born on November 1, 1918 in Lawai Kauai, she was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Watanabe; and son, Thomas Watanabe.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Janet) Watanabe; daughters, Shirley Hashimoto, Ann (Richard) Ogata, and Kay Kano; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A private service was held. The family requests no koden.
