LIHUE — An accident involving a moped closed one lane of Kaumualii Highway Friday afternoon.
Kauai Police Dispatch sent out a call to responders about a traffic collision in the eastbound lane of Kaumualii Highway shortly after 3 p.m. The accident was near Mile Marker 4 just before Halfway Bridge.
The incident involved a 29-year-old, female from California who was driving a moped when she lost control and struck a guardrail. She was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for treatment of abrasions to her arms and legs.
She had non life-threatening injuries, according to a county spokesperson.
The highway was open to alternating traffic flow by 3:30 p.m.
