LIHUE — Curious about what’s buzzing at the county and at the state’s only electric cooperative as they transform Kauai’s energy future?
Hear what’s possible as the administration and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative work toward greater collaboration.
Join Apollo Kauai for a meeting with Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., KIUC CEO David Bissell, and county Energy Coordinator Ben Sullivan on June 13 for an update and an opportunity to share in the conversation.
“Lots of progress is being made, both at the County of Kauai and at KIUC toward energy transformation on our island,” according to a news release. “KIUC is leading the nation in the unprecedented amount of photovoltaic systems being installed on our community-owned grid.”
Numerous other clean energy projects are also underway, the release states. Kauai County is making “big strides” in the transportation sector and is implementing “strong” energy savings initiatives in-house.
KIUC anticipates achieving its 50 percent renewable energy goal ahead of schedule.
The public is welcomed to bring ideas and suggestions to the meeting at Kapaa Library at 5:30 p.m.
