LIHUE — Lihue Court Townhomes will showcase the relationship between its residents and community “that have resulted in the development of a vibrant community garden and several sustainable projects.”
Lihue Court Townhomes and other NeighborWorks members across the country will mobilize tens of thousands of residents and government officials in a week of neighborhood change and awareness.
Other communities will rehab and repair homes, paint and landscape properties and conduct neighborhood tours.
The walking tour and open house at Lihue Court Townhomes starts at 12:30 p.m. today to kick off a week-long program.
• Monday to Wednesday, 1:30-3:30 p.m., Aquaponics system taught by Justin Carvalho at the Lihue Court Townhomes Shade House
• Monday to Friday (mornings), planting of flowers and vegetables in the Lihue Court Community Garden by the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii-Kauai Branch
• Friday, 1-3 p.m., planting of fruit trees (banana and papaya) in the Community Garden by the Lihue Fire Department
• Friday (afternoon), Stencil Recycling Barrels for resident households at Lihue Court by the teens of the Boys and Girls Club
