Nei Moana Henriques got to return to Kauai over the weekend, participating in the Kauai Polynesian Festival (kudos to Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza and all the Kamanawa Foundation volunteers on a great festival!) at the Vidinha Stadium soccer fields.
Henriques (where was Manny Henriques?) was earlier awarded the Miss Spirit trophy during the 2013 Miss Garden Isle/Miss Kauai pageant in March, and before that, was on the homecoming court for Waimea High School before she graduated.
Mike Teruya was out photographing the Kauai Polynesian Festival pageantry, getting help from Joe Olivas, who loaned him “the big gun.” Mike said even Steve Read was out for the first two nights of dancing.
Marilyn Otani was manning the Mailelani booth because Karin Panui was, as Marilyn said, “all bus’ up.” Marilyn said business was pretty good, although there were several times when she had to move everything inside because of the rain.
Patti Ornellas (she was co-chair at the Relay for Life) said she’ll be at the Bark for Life Saturday to help Diann Hartman with registration at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center.
