LIHUE — Three Kauai residents have an opportunity to win Las Vegas trips courtesy of Vacations Hawaii.
The trips are being given away as Haleakala Solar opens its doors this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., next to the Kukui Grove Center entrance at Times Supermarket.
Residents become eligible for the four-night trip for two by bringing their Kauai Island Utility Cooperative bill to Haleakala Solar during the weekend.
“We are excited to expand our services to Kukui Grove Center and provide new battery systems and financing options never seen before on Kauai, said Jasen Hartford, design manager for Haleakala Solar.
Saturday’s opening will include a blessing with The KQNG Radio Group doing a live broadcast.
Jonel Kaohelaulii, Kukui Grove Center’s marketing director, said there will also be a taiko group and other entertainment.
Haleakala Solar is a full-service company that installs solar water heater, solar pool panels, attic fans, photovoltaic and battery systems.
“We’re excited about coming to Kauai,” said Lambert Hoopii, Haleakala Solar’s COO and vice president. “People have been wanting us to get here. We’ve already gotten work signed and have the permitting in process.”
Hoopii said the opening of the Kukui Grove store is the perfect opportunity to see what they have been offering Maui residents for the past 36 years.
“We have our main office on Maui,” Hoopii said. “We also have an office in Honolulu, and now, one on Kauai.”
They service the Big Island and hope to establish an office there soon.
Started as a one-man operation by owner Jim Whitcomb, Haleakala Solar has grown to one of the largest solar companies in the state, employing more than 170 people.
