LIHUE — Spaces are available for a keiki cultural summer camp at Na Keiki O Ka Aina center for Polynesian Culture.
The cultural experience summer camp will be based at the Kauai Village Shopping Center from June 3 until July 14. Participants will work with various practitioners on a daily basis, learning Hawaiian and Polynesian culture and arts.
The camp is open to keiki from 7 to 16 years old and meets Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include weaving, hula, Tahitian dance, art, drumming, farming, taro, Tahitian fire dance, and more.
Participants will learn skills such as cooking in an imu, Hawaiian medicinals and lomi lomi massage.
Following the six-week experience, Na Keiki O Ka Aina will host a luau and hoike where the children will showcase what they learned during the camp.
